Treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women
This medication is used to treat and prevent osteoporosis that may occur in postmenopausal women. Osteoporosis is a disease characterized by decreased bone density, resulting in an increased risk of fractures, and is particularly common in postmenopausal women. This drug strengthens bones, reduces fracture risk, and improves bone density. Therefore, it helps maintain bone health in postmenopausal women.
Administer 60 mg orally once daily as Raloxifene Hydrochloride.
This medication may increase the risk of venous thromboembolism, so it should be discontinued if prolonged immobility occurs. It is not recommended for patients with poor liver function, and liver function tests should be conducted regularly. This medication is not suitable for premenopausal women. Use with caution in patients with heart disease or a high risk of stroke, as the risk of stroke may increase. This drug should not be used for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, and concurrent use with other hormone treatments is not recommended. Pregnant women, women who may become pregnant, and nursing mothers should not take this medication, as it may be harmful to the fetus or baby. This drug should also not be used by individuals with a history of thrombosis, liver disease, unexplained uterine bleeding, or symptoms of endometrial cancer. Patients with certain genetic disorders should not take this medication. Patients with high triglyceride levels or poor kidney function should use this drug with caution. While taking this drug, side effects such as leg cramps, facial flushing, cold symptoms, and peripheral edema may occur, so caution is required. This drug may interact with other medications, so it is essential to consult healthcare providers if taking other medicines. Supplementation of calcium and vitamin D is necessary if intake is low, and it is advisable to improve smoking and drinking habits. It is not for use in children or men, and in cases of overdose, appropriate treatment should be received based on symptoms. This medication does not induce endometrial hyperplasia, but if uterine bleeding occurs during use, a professional diagnosis should be sought. Breast cancer patients must complete treatment before using this medication, and examinations should be conducted if any breast abnormalities occur during use. There are no reports of this drug affecting driving or machinery operation, but individuals should be cautious as experiences may vary. Store this medication out of reach of children and do not transfer it to other containers for safety.
