This medication is used for the long-term maintenance therapy of gastroesophageal reflux disease, especially erosive reflux esophagitis, and to prevent recurrence. It also helps in the treatment of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection and aids in the prevention of recurrence. It is effective in treating upper gastrointestinal symptoms related to the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and in treating and preventing gastric ulcers. This medication is also used for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and for maintenance therapy after inducing prevention of rebleeding from gastric or duodenal ulcers. It is used to improve various symptoms and diseases related to gastrointestinal disorders.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with a history of allergic reactions to certain components or benzimidazole derivatives. Hives, angioedema, anaphylactic reaction/shock, severe rash with high fever, blisters, peeling skin, pain in the mouth/eyes, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS), difficulty breathing, asthma attack, shortness of breath, jaundice, hepatitis, liver failure, encephalopathy, sudden and severe headache, seizures, consciousness disturbance.
