Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with severely impaired kidney function or those undergoing dialysis, or in patients with a history of allergy to this medication or its components. It is also not safe to administer to patients with a rare blood disorder called acute porphyria. Patients with kidney issues or those who have undergone gastrointestinal surgery, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, and premature infants or newborns must also not receive this medication. Patients on a potassium-restricted diet should not take this medication. Patients with liver function issues, those with a history of drug allergies, the elderly, patients with a history of kidney problems, and those taking NSAIDs should use this medication with caution. Especially since it may mask the symptoms of gastric cancer, it is crucial to confirm there are no malignant diseases in patients who have gastric ulcers or newly developed dyspeptic symptoms who are over middle age. Patients with gastric or duodenal ulcers infected with Helicobacter pylori require bacterial eradication therapy. Severe ICU patients, patients with hypophosphatemia, and those who have difficulty swallowing must also use this medication cautiously. When taking this medication, there is a rare likelihood of serious allergic reactions such as anaphylactic shock. Should symptoms appear, the medication must be discontinued immediately, and treatment sought. Hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rash, urticaria, angioedema, fever, bronchospasm, hypotension, and chest pain may also occur, requiring vigilant attention. Abnormal results may appear in blood tests, and abnormalities in liver function, arrhythmias, gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, etc.), and neurological symptoms (dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, seizures, etc.) have been reported. Additionally, various side effects such as myalgia or arthralgia, hair loss, and skin rashes may appear; it is essential to consult healthcare professionals if any abnormal symptoms occur. Long-term use is not recommended, and during treatment, regular monitoring of blood, liver, and kidney function is necessary, along with careful observation of symptoms. Elderly patients or those with chronic lung disease, diabetes, or weakened immune systems are at increased risk of pneumonia and must be especially cautious. If dizziness or drowsiness occurs while taking this medication, it is advisable to avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery. This medication may interact with other drugs; therefore, any concomitant medications should be disclosed to healthcare providers. In the case of overdose, emergency measures such as vomiting or gastric lavage may be necessary, and in some cases, blood dialysis may be beneficial. This medication reduces gastric acid secretion, which may promote bacterial proliferation within the gastrointestinal tract, and prolonged use may have a characteristic of binding with ocular melanin, necessitating ophthalmological examinations.
