Treatment of bacterial skin infections (impetigo, folliculitis, etc.)
This medication is effective against major pathogens of skin infections, including methicillin-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus and other staphylococci, as well as streptococci. It also acts against Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Haemophilus influenzae, treating various bacterial skin infections. Key indications include bacterial skin infections such as impetigo, folliculitis, boils, and infectious eczema. It is also used for secondary bacterial skin infections due to trauma or burns. This medication rapidly improves skin infections, aiding the recovery of healthy skin.
Apply a small amount to the infected area 2-3 times a day for 10 days. If necessary, the treated area can be dressed or sealed.
This medication should not be used in certain patients. Patients who are allergic to this medication or its ingredients, especially polyethylene glycol, or have experienced such reactions in the past should not use this medication. Patients with kidney disease should use this medication with caution. Since polyethylene glycol can be absorbed through damaged skin and excreted by the kidneys, it may pose risks to patients with impaired renal function. Pregnant women or women of childbearing potential should refrain from using this medication. Additionally, nursing women should also avoid using this medication. It is not recommended to use this medication on damaged skin or open wounds for extended periods due to insufficient safety data indicating possible effects on immune function from animal studies. This medication may cause skin hypersensitivity reactions such as burning, pain, itching, rash, and erythema. Nausea, dry skin, swelling, and contact dermatitis may occasionally occur, and systemic allergic reactions have been reported rarely. If severe skin irritation or allergic symptoms occur while using this medication, discontinue use immediately, wash thoroughly, and consult a doctor or pharmacist. This medication should only be used for the minimum duration necessary to prevent the development of resistant bacteria, and it is advisable to perform sensitivity testing against the infectious pathogens. Prolonged use may lead to excessive proliferation of other microorganisms such as fungal infections, so caution is warranted. If symptoms do not improve within 3-5 days of use, consult a doctor or pharmacist to reassess the treatment method. When using on the face, take care to avoid contact with the eyes, and it is safe not to apply on mucous membranes such as the eyes or nose. No side effects affecting driving or operating machinery have been reported. When used with other medications, the effectiveness of this medication may be reduced, and its stability may decrease, so caution is needed. As the safety of this medication is not adequately confirmed for pregnant or nursing women, it is advisable not to use it. If an overdose occurs, clean the affected area thoroughly and receive appropriate treatment for symptoms if necessary. This medication must be used externally only and is not suitable for use at central venous catheter sites. Keep this medication out of the reach of children, and avoid transferring it to other containers as this can lead to quality degradation or accidents. Any leftover medication after use should be disposed of safely.
