This medication is used to treat gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastritis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. It also assists in the prevention of Mendelson syndrome prior to anesthesia and helps prevent postoperative ulcers. It is effective in treating gastric and duodenal ulcers caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is used to improve various gastrointestinal diseases.

How to take

Adult dose

Typically, take 2 tablets orally twice a day, regardless of meals, in the morning and before bedtime. 1) Gastric and duodenal ulcers Take 2 tablets twice a day or take 4 tablets once a day before bedtime. 2) Gastroesophageal reflux disease For 8 weeks, take 2 tablets twice a day or take 4 tablets once a day before bedtime. 3) Zollinger-Ellison syndrome Start with an initial dose of 2 tablets three times a day for treatment.

Precautions

This drug should not be used in patients undergoing dialysis or those with impaired kidney function. Additionally, it should not be administered to patients with a history of allergic reactions to this drug or its components, those with acute porphyria, patients who have undergone upper gastrointestinal surgery, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, premature infants and neonates, and patients who need to restrict potassium intake. Caution should be exercised in patients with poor liver function or a history of hypersensitivity, elderly patients, patients with a history of kidney disorders, and those taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Particularly, it may mask symptoms of stomach cancer; therefore, gastric ulcer patients or middle-aged patients who recently experience new dyspeptic symptoms should be given this medication only after confirming the malignancy. Patients with gastric or duodenal ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori require eradication therapy, and patients in severe intensive care or those with hypophosphatemia should also be cautious. While taking this medication, there may be rare occurrences of allergic reactions, blood abnormalities, hepatic impairment, arrhythmias, gastrointestinal symptoms, neurological symptoms, musculoskeletal pain, and skin rashes. Therefore, it is recommended to consult a healthcare professional immediately if any abnormal symptoms occur. Long-term use should be avoided, treatment progress should be monitored regularly, and only the minimum effective dose should be used. Elderly patients or those with chronic diseases are at an increased risk for pneumonia; thus, caution is necessary, and if dizziness or drowsiness occurs, avoiding driving or operating hazardous machinery is advisable. This medication may interact with other drugs, so if you are taking any other medications, be sure to inform your healthcare provider. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised against using this medication, and its safety in children has not been established, thus administration to children should be avoided. In case of overdose, emergency treatment such as vomiting or gastric lavage should be sought, and if necessary, blood dialysis can be performed for removal. Finally, this drug can decrease gastric acid secretion and promote bacterial proliferation in the stomach, so regular check-ups, including eye examinations, are needed during long-term use.
