This medication is used for painful muscle spasms associated with musculoskeletal disorders, such as shoulder-hand syndrome, pericapsulitis, and low back pain. It is also effective for alleviating symptoms related to spastic paralysis caused by neurological disorders, for example, cerebrovascular accidents, spastic spinal paralysis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, cerebral palsy, and various central nervous system diseases. This medication helps relieve muscle stiffness and pain, improving the patient's mobility, thereby contributing to the recovery of physical function and the enhancement of quality of life. For these reasons, this medication is widely used for the treatment of muscle stiffness and pain.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. Firstly, it should not be administered to patients who have had allergic reactions to this drug or those with myasthenia gravis. Additionally, as this medication contains lactose, it should also not be given to patients with genetic disorders that prevent the digestion of lactose. Caution is needed when administering this drug to patients with a history of drug allergies or those with compromised liver function, as it may pose a risk of worsening liver function. This drug can rarely cause serious side effects, so the patient's condition should be closely monitored during administration. For example, shock symptoms may occur, so if such symptoms arise, use should be stopped immediately, and appropriate treatment should be sought. Regular tests should be performed as liver function test results may rise or renal function abnormalities may emerge. Other possible manifestations include anemia, skin rash, itching, neurological symptoms (insomnia, drowsiness, headaches, etc.), gastrointestinal issues (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.), urinary symptoms (urinary retention, incontinence, etc.), among others. During the course of treatment, the patient's disposition may become lethargic, or dizziness and decreased muscle tone may occur, so caution is advisable. Severe skin reactions or immune-related reactions such as anaphylaxis may occur, thus if there are symptoms like fever, erythema, blisters, itching, red eyes, or stomatitis, administration must be stopped immediately. Drowsiness or decreased concentration may occur while taking this medication, hence it is advisable to avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. Care should be taken as combining this medicine with similar medications or certain muscle relaxants may lead to side effects. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication cautiously as its safety has not been established, and for those who are nursing, it is advisable to discontinue breastfeeding while taking this medication. Safety has not been fully established for use in pediatric patients, so caution is necessary in this population. Elderly patients may have diminished physical function, so careful dosing adjustments are advised.
