This medication is administered twice daily with meals. 1. Precautions

This medication helps control blood sugar levels. However, there are several precautions to consider when taking this medication. First, patients with poor kidney function should not take this medication, as decreased kidney function can lead to accumulation of the drug in the body which can be hazardous. Furthermore, patients with liver dysfunction or cardiovascular disease should use this medication with caution, as these conditions may exacerbate drug side effects. A rare side effect known as lactic acidosis may occur, which can lead to a dangerously excessive accumulation of lactic acid in the body. Symptoms such as abdominal pain, muscle pain, and difficulty breathing should prompt immediate consultation with a doctor. There is also a risk of hypoglycemia, especially when taken alongside insulin or sulfonylurea medications, so blood sugar levels should be monitored frequently. It is advisable for pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, and nursing mothers to avoid using this medication. Additionally, patients with acute alcohol intoxication or alcohol dependence should avoid taking this medication, as alcohol can increase the risk of drug side effects. For patients undergoing surgery or receiving contrast tests with radioiodine, the use of this medication should be discontinued for a certain period before and after the tests, and it should be resumed only after reevaluating kidney function. This medication is not recommended for children or adolescents as its safety and effectiveness have not been sufficiently established. Elderly patients may experience a decline in kidney function, thus regular monitoring of kidney function and dose adjustment is necessary. When taking this medication, there is a possibility of interaction with other drugs, so it is essential to consult a doctor or pharmacist if taking other medications. Finally, this medication should be kept out of the reach of children and stored away from moisture.
