This medication is used for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. It is particularly effective in reducing the incidence of spinal fractures, helping to maintain bone density and improve bone health. However, its effectiveness in non-spinal fractures has not yet been sufficiently proven, so caution is needed. This medication can reduce the risk of spinal fractures due to osteoporosis and help maintain healthy bones.

How to take

Adult dose

One tablet once daily, regardless of meals.

Precautions

This medication may increase the risk of blood clots in the blood. Particularly, conditions such as deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and retinal vein thrombosis may occur, so it is not recommended for women with these issues or those at high risk. This medication is only for postmenopausal women and should not be used in premenopausal women, pregnant women, or breastfeeding women. If uterine bleeding occurs during treatment with this medication, professional medical advice should be sought immediately. Additionally, it is not recommended to use this medication for prevention or treatment in breast cancer patients. Individuals with allergies to this medication or its components, a history of thrombosis, unexplained uterine bleeding, symptoms of endometrial cancer, hypercalcemia, or kidney stones should not take this medication. Patients with high triglycerides or poor liver or kidney function, limited mobility, or those taking certain medications should use this medication with caution and under a physician's direction. The use of this medication may lead to side effects such as flushing, leg cramps, drowsiness, dry mouth, hives, rash, thrombosis, etc.; if any unusual symptoms occur, consult a doctor immediately. If there is a high risk of vitamin D deficiency, supplemental vitamin D should be taken, and if calcium intake is insufficient, it is recommended to take calcium supplements concurrently. This medication may cause drowsiness or vision disturbances when driving or operating machinery, so caution is needed. In case of an overdose, since there is no specific antidote, treatment should be symptomatic, especially in cases of vitamin D overdose, where calcium levels should be regularly monitored. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and stored in its original container. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take this medication, and if pregnancy is confirmed during treatment, it should be stopped immediately. This medication is not used in children and can be used in the elderly without special dose adjustments, but liver function changes should be considered.

Hypersensitivity, drowsiness, flushing, superficial thrombophlebitis, dry mouth, rash, itching, muscle cramps, peripheral edema, increased triglycerides, elevated alanine aminotransferase (ALT), elevated aspartate aminotransferase (AST), decreased vision, blurred vision, photophobia, visual field loss, visual impairment, dry eyes, eyelid edema, eyelid twitching, eye pain, eye swelling, vomiting, gastritis, colon polyps, belching, allergies

Storage

This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to protect it from air or moisture. The appropriate storage temperature is room temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees. Avoid storing it in excessively hot or cold places.
