This medication is used to inhibit thrombus formation in major thrombus-related diseases such as myocardial infarction, cerebral infarction, and unstable angina. Additionally, it helps prevent thrombus formation after coronary artery bypass grafting or percutaneous coronary intervention, reducing recurrence. It is effective in lowering cardiovascular risks in high-risk patients with multiple risk factors such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, obesity, and diabetes. Therefore, it is used for the prevention of major cardiovascular diseases and post-operative care in high-risk groups.

Precautions

Before taking this medication, those who regularly consume more than three glasses of alcohol daily should consult with a doctor or pharmacist, as there is a risk of gastrointestinal bleeding. This medication should not be used by certain patients, such as those allergic to this drug or other salicylate products, patients with peptic ulcers, aspirin-induced asthma patients, hemophilia patients, those with severe liver or kidney dysfunction, patients with severe heart failure, individuals with a tendency to bleed, those taking high doses of methotrexate, and pregnant women in the third trimester. Care should also be taken when prescribing this medication for patients with a history of renal dysfunction, cardiovascular circulation issues, liver disease, blood disorders, bronchial asthma, pre-operative patients, children under three years of age, those with a history of allergies, elderly patients, those taking anticoagulants, and patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency. During treatment, various side effects may occur, including sudden shock symptoms, anaphylaxis, skin rashes, hives, blood abnormalities, gastrointestinal disturbances, neuropsychiatric symptoms, liver dysfunction, and kidney impairment. If any of these symptoms arise, discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention. This medication carries a significant risk of Reye's syndrome in children under 14 years old with chickenpox or influenza; therefore, it should only be administered cautiously in unavoidable circumstances and the patient's condition should be closely monitored. When taking this medication, chronic or acute health conditions should be considered, and regular clinical examinations should be conducted to monitor for any anomalies during long-term use. Additionally, because this medication exerts antiplatelet aggregation effects, bleeding risks may increase before or after surgical procedures; therefore, consult with a doctor if surgery is planned. Due to numerous interactions with other medications, care should be taken when used with anticoagulants, thrombolytics, diabetes medications, uricosuric agents, methotrexate, lithium preparations, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), digoxin, corticosteroids, ACE inhibitors, valproate, alcohol, and others, and consultation with healthcare professionals is essential. During pregnancy, especially in the third trimester, using this medication can result in serious side effects for both the fetus and the mother; thus, it should not be used, and breastfeeding mothers should not take it either. Elderly patients are more susceptible to adverse reactions, so starting with a smaller dose while monitoring their condition is advisable. Finally, as this medication is in an enteric-coated form, care should be taken to avoid damaging the coating, and it is recommended not to take it with other alkalizing agents.
