This medication is used to treat and prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women, particularly effective in reducing the occurrence of spinal fractures. However, its effects on fractures occurring in sites other than the spine have not been clearly established. Therefore, it is primarily suitable for postmenopausal women at high risk of spinal fractures. This medication helps improve bone density, thereby reducing the risk of fractures. Overall, it is used for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis.

How to take

Adult dose

Take 1 tablet once a day, regardless of meals.

Precautions

This medication may increase the risk of thrombosis in blood vessels. Care should be taken as the risk of venous thromboembolism, such as deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and retinal vein thrombosis, may be increased. This medication should only be taken by postmenopausal women and should not be used by premenopausal women, pregnant women, or women who are breastfeeding. If uterine bleeding occurs while taking this medication, consult a specialist immediately, and it is not recommended for breast cancer patients. Women with a history of thrombosis, those with the potential for pregnancy, nursing mothers, those with unexplained uterine bleeding, and patients with symptoms of endometrial cancer should not take this medication. Patients with high triglycerides, poor kidney and liver function, restricted mobility, or those taking specific medications should use this medication with caution. This medication may cause side effects such as facial flushing or leg cramps, and if there are changes in vision or pain in the eyes, consult a doctor immediately. Patients at risk for vitamin D deficiency or those with insufficient calcium intake may need additional supplementation. Caution is required when driving or operating machinery, as drowsiness or visual disturbances may occur. This medication may interact with other medications, so inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other medications you are taking. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so appropriate treatment based on symptoms should be obtained, and if symptoms of elevated calcium levels occur, consult healthcare professionals immediately.
