Improvement in blood pressure control in essential hypertension
This medication is used in patients with essential hypertension when adequate blood pressure control is not achieved with monotherapy using telmisartan. It effectively lowers blood pressure and helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications.
For patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled, take once daily with or without food along with a drink. Since the doses of each component are fixed, it is recommended to adjust the dosages for each component according to individual patient needs before switching to this medication. For patients with mild to moderate renal impairment, no dose adjustment is necessary; it is not to be administered to severe renal impairment patients. For patients with mild to moderate liver impairment, do not exceed 40/12.5mg daily.
The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in children under 18 years.
This medication should not be used during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, as it can cause serious harm to the fetus. Patients who are allergic to the ingredients in this medication or have certain liver or kidney diseases should not take this medication. Elderly patients or those with high potassium levels in the blood, weakened liver function, or problems with the heart or blood vessels should use this medication with caution. Since this medication lowers blood pressure, symptoms such as dizziness or hypotension may occur, so caution is needed when driving or operating machinery. Due to the presence of hydrochlorothiazide, electrolyte imbalances may occur, so electrolyte levels should be checked periodically through blood tests. Excessive exposure to sunlight during the course of this medication may lead to abnormal skin reactions, so precautions against UV exposure are necessary. There may be interactions if this medication is taken with other antihypertensive drugs or diuretics, so consulting a doctor or pharmacist is essential. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, electrolyte abnormalities, dehydration may occur, and immediate medical attention is required. It is advisable that children under 18 years do not take this medication as its safety and efficacy have not been established. Store this medication out of the reach of children and keep it sealed until just before use to maintain its efficacy.
