This medication is used for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis and periarthritis of the shoulder. It alleviates joint pain and inflammation, helping patients to have a more comfortable daily life and improving joint function.

How it is given

Adult administration

Typically, for adults, administer one tube into the knee joint or shoulder joint (shoulder joint cavity, subacromial bursa, or bicipital tendon sheath) once a week for three consecutive weeks, but the number of administrations may be adjusted according to symptoms. Since this medication is administered into the joint, it should be performed under strict aseptic technique.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who are allergic to its components. Patients with allergies to other drugs or with liver dysfunction or a history of liver disease should use it cautiously. In addition, caution is needed if there are skin conditions or infections at the site of administration, as this medication is injected directly into the joint. Severe allergic reactions such as anaphylactic shock may occur while using this medication. If symptoms appear, administration should be discontinued immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought. Swelling, rash, or itching around the face or eyes may occur, so use should be discontinued if these symptoms develop. Temporary symptoms such as pain, swelling, redness, and warmth at the injection site may occur, as well as nausea, vomiting, and fever. Using this medication in joints with severe inflammation may worsen symptoms, so it is advisable to wait until the inflammation subsides before administering. Stabilizing the joint area after administration is helpful. If the drug leaks outside the joint, pain may occur, so it must be administered precisely into the joint. During injection, a clean environment should be maintained to prevent infection, and if symptoms do not improve, administration should be limited to three times and subsequently stopped. If fluid accumulates in the joint, it may be necessary to perform a drainage procedure as needed. This medication should not be injected into a blood vessel and is not suitable for use in the eye. A syringe with a gauge of 22-23 is recommended for use. Caution is necessary as mixing with some disinfectants may cause the drug to precipitate. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully consider the benefits and risks of using this medication. If breastfeeding, it is advisable to avoid breastfeeding during the use of this medication as it may be transmitted through breast milk. Safety in children has not been established, so it should be used cautiously and only when necessary.
