Thioctic acid supplementation; treatment of Leigh syndrome and toxic- and noise-induced inner ear hearing loss
Thioctic acid is provided in situations of increased demand due to intense physical labor and is effective for conditions like Leigh syndrome and subacute necrotizing myelitis. It is also used to treat inner ear hearing loss caused by drug toxicity from medications like streptomycin or kanamycin, and occupational noise. Generally, if no effect is observed after about 1 month of administration, continuous use is not recommended. This medication helps improve the nervous system and auditory function, making it useful for treating related diseases.
As thioctic acid, the usual adult dose is 10~25mg intravenously once daily. However, the dose may be adjusted as appropriate according to age and symptoms.
