This medication is used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. It helps reduce the risk of complications such as myocardial infarction, stroke, vascular interventions, and angina in adults with risk factors for coronary heart disease and in patients with type 2 diabetes. It also reduces the risk of recurrence in patients with a history of myocardial infarction or stroke and decreases the risk of hospitalization due to congestive heart failure. In patients with hyperlipidemia, it plays a role in controlling cholesterol and triglyceride levels to improve blood lipid profile. It is particularly effective in patients with familial hypercholesterolemia and in patients with dyslipidemia that do not respond to dietary treatment. In pediatric patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, it is used to reduce total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels. In summary, this medication aids in improving cardiovascular health and managing hyperlipidemia, thereby assisting in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
