This medication is used for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. It is particularly effective in reducing the occurrence of vertebral fractures. However, its efficacy for non-vertebral fractures has not yet been clearly established. Therefore, it is strongly recommended for those aiming to reduce the risk of vertebral fractures.

How to take

Adult dose

Once daily, 1 tablet each time, taken regardless of meals.

Precautions

This medication may increase the risk of thrombus formation, such as venous thromboembolism, and is not recommended for women at high risk of thrombosis. Caution should be exercised, especially in cases of old age, obesity, and recovery after surgery where movement is limited, and it may be necessary to temporarily suspend the use of this medication in such situations. This medication is only intended for use in postmenopausal women and should not be administered to women before menopause. If uterine bleeding occurs, it is imperative to seek medical attention. It is not recommended for patients with breast cancer or those undergoing treatment for breast cancer. This medication should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity or a history of venous thromboembolism, pregnant or potentially pregnant women, nursing mothers, or patients with symptoms of endometrial cancer. Additionally, it should not be taken by patients with lactose intolerance or hypercalcemia, or those with kidney stones. Patients with elevated triglycerides or impaired kidney or liver function, as well as those taking certain medications, should use this medication with caution. This medication may cause drowsiness or visual disturbances, hence care is needed while driving or operating machinery. Patients with insufficient calcium intake should take calcium supplements, and those at high risk of vitamin D deficiency may require additional vitamin D supplementation. There is no specific antidote for overdose; treatment should be based on symptoms, and caution is required as excessive vitamin D intake may lead to side effects such as hypercalcemia. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children and stored in its original container.

Vasodilation (facial flushing), leg cramps, dry mouth, rash, itching, muscle cramps, peripheral edema, elevated triglycerides, increased alanine aminotransferase (ALT), increased aspartate aminotransferase (AST), drowsiness, vision impairment, blurred vision, photophobia, visual field loss, dry eyes, eyelid swelling, eyelid spasm, eye pain, eye swelling, vomiting, gastritis, belching, indigestion, nausea, abdominal pain, constipation,
