This medication is administered to patients with acute coronary syndrome, particularly those with unstable angina or non-Q-wave myocardial infarction, who have undergone either drug treatment, coronary intervention procedures, or coronary artery bypass surgery. It helps improve atherosclerotic symptoms such as mortality, myocardial infarction, and stroke due to cardiovascular abnormalities. Additionally, it's used in atrial fibrillation patients with vascular risk factors who are unsuitable for vitamin K antagonists, to reduce the risk of stroke and thromboembolism when there is a low risk of bleeding. This drug is effective in preventing thrombus formation and reducing the risk of cardiovascular complications.

Dosage and Administration

Precautions

This medication may cause prolonged bleeding, so if bleeding does not stop or if there are unusual symptoms at the bleeding site, you must inform your doctor immediately. You should definitely inform your healthcare team that you are taking this medication before surgery or starting any new medications. Rarely, a serious condition may occur after taking this medication, with a rapid decrease in platelets, so you must inform healthcare professionals immediately if you experience symptoms like thrombocytopenia, anemia, kidney issues, fever, or neurological symptoms. Patients with genetically decreased enzyme function affecting drug metabolism may have reduced efficacy from this medication, and increase cardiovascular risk. Those who consume more than three alcoholic drinks daily should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication, as it increases the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding. Do not take this medication if you are allergic to it or its components, or if you have asthma, peptic ulcers, severe liver or kidney disease, hemophilia, are in late pregnancy, or are breastfeeding. Patients with gastrointestinal bleeding, blood-related disorders, or bleeding tendencies should use this medication cautiously and follow medical guidance due to potentially increased bleeding risk. Patients scheduled for surgery should stop taking this medication 5-7 days before the surgery and resume only after hemostasis. There is an increased risk of bleeding when this medication is taken with other antiplatelet agents or drugs affecting blood coagulation, so caution is needed. Monitor for gastrointestinal or bleeding symptoms while taking this medication, and inform healthcare professionals immediately of any unusual symptoms. This medication should be used with caution in patients with poor liver or kidney function and is not recommended for patients with acute stroke or for patients under 18 years old. Patients with a history of asthma or allergies should also be cautious when taking this medication. Do not take this medication in the third trimester of pregnancy and consult a doctor regarding its use before mid-pregnancy. It is advisable not to take this medication while breastfeeding. This medication does not affect driving or operating machinery, but caution is advised if unusual reactions occur. Overdose may increase the risk of bleeding, so always adhere to prescribed dosage and administration. Keep out of reach of children, store at room temperature, and do not transfer to other containers.
