Treatment of hypertension and kidney disease (in patients with type 2 diabetes)
This medication helps effectively control the blood pressure of patients with hypertension. It is especially useful in preventing and treating kidney disease in patients with hypertension and type 2 diabetes. It contributes to blood pressure management and protects kidney function, thereby improving the overall health of patients. Therefore, it is widely used for the treatment of hypertension and diabetes-related kidney disease.
This medication can be taken regardless of meals but is recommended to be taken at the same time every day. In the treatment of hypertension, the initial dose and maintenance dose of Losartan Potassium are recommended to be 50 mg orally once daily. The maximum blood pressure-lowering effect occurs 3 to 6 weeks after starting treatment. If the therapeutic effect is insufficient, the dose may be increased to 100 mg once daily or divided into two doses per day. Hypertension

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take it. It should not be used in patients with severely impaired liver function, hereditary angioedema, or primary hyperaldosteronism, and caution is needed for patients with lactose intolerance. Elderly patients, patients with compromised kidney function, and those with hyperkalemia should take this medication carefully while frequently checking blood tests and their condition. Dizziness or symptoms of low blood pressure may occur while taking this medication, so caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery. This medication may increase potassium levels to dangerous levels if taken with other antihypertensive drugs, potassium-sparing diuretics, or potassium supplements, so it is essential to consult with a doctor. Additionally, taking this medication with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may hinder blood pressure control or worsen kidney function, requiring careful attention. During the use of this medication, side effects such as liver dysfunction, kidney impairment, blood abnormalities, and skin rashes may appear, so if any unusual symptoms occur, it is necessary to inform medical personnel immediately. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid taking this medication, and if it is absolutely necessary to take it, they must consult with a doctor and discontinue breastfeeding. In case of overdose, hypotension and bradycardia may occur, necessitating immediate medical treatment, and this medication is not removed by hemodialysis. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children, and it is safe not to transfer it to other containers.
Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, angioedema (laryngeal/pharyngeal swelling causing airway obstruction, swelling of the face/lips/pharynx/tongue), high fever with severe rash, blistering, peeling skin, pain in oral/ocular mucosa, breathing difficulties, asthma attacks, respiratory abnormalities accompanied by cough and fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), severe lethargy, liver dysfunction
Muscle cramps, back pain, limb pain, dizziness, congestion, upper respiratory infections, sinusitis, nausea, diarrhea, indigestion, cough, sinus disorders, pharyngitis, myalgia, insomnia, headache, weakness/fatigue, swelling/edema, abdominal pain, chest pain, angioedema (lip, eyelid swelling, facial rash), palm skin peeling, hemolytic phenomena, facial swelling, fever, orthostatic effects, syncope, angina, second-degree atrioventricular block, cerebrovascular accident (CVA), hypotension, myocardial infarction

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to avoid exposure to air and moisture, ideally at temperatures between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius. Therefore, avoid areas that are too hot or too cold, and keep it in a cool place away from direct sunlight.
