Treatment of gastric diseases such as gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastritis
This medication is used to treat ulcers occurring in the stomach and duodenum, gastritis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is also helpful in preventing ulcers that may arise post-surgery and in treating gastric and duodenal ulcers due to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It may be administered before anesthesia to prevent Mendelson's syndrome. Therefore, it is used effectively to improve various gastric-related diseases and symptoms.
Generally, take 2 tablets orally twice a day, regardless of meals, in the morning and before bedtime. 1) Gastric and duodenal ulcers: Take 2 tablets twice a day or take 4 tablets once at bedtime. For duodenal ulcer patients, 4 tablets may be taken twice a day in the morning and before bedtime. 2) Gastroesophageal reflux disease: Take 2 tablets twice a day for 8 weeks or take 4 tablets once at bedtime.
This medication should not be used in patients undergoing dialysis treatment or in those with renal function issues. Additionally, it should not be administered to patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication or its components, those with a history of acute porphyria, patients who have undergone upper gastrointestinal surgery, women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, premature infants and neonates, and patients on potassium-restricted diets. Use with caution in patients with poor liver function, a history of drug allergies, the elderly, patients with renal dysfunction history, and those taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It may particularly hide symptoms of stomach cancer, so patients with gastric ulcers or middle-aged individuals who have recently experienced new dyspeptic symptoms should confirm whether it is malignant before treatment. Patients with Helicobacter pylori in gastric or duodenal ulcers require eradication therapy, and severe patients in intensive care units or those with hypophosphatemia also need caution. This medication may rarely cause severe allergic reactions or skin rashes, reduced blood cell counts, liver function abnormalities, arrhythmias, gastrointestinal disorders, neurological disorders, muscle pain, alopecia, and other various side effects, so if any adverse symptoms occur, the medication should be stopped immediately and the physician should be consulted. Avoid long-term use without medical supervision and consider switching to another medication if there is no therapeutic effect. The elderly, patients with chronic lung diseases, diabetes, and immunocompromised patients may have an increased risk of pneumonia, so caution is advised. If you feel dizziness or drowsiness while taking this medication, it is advisable to avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. Additionally, this medication may interact with other drugs, so it is particularly important to consult a healthcare professional when taking anticoagulants, certain antibiotics, anticonvulsants, etc. It is safest for pregnant or breastfeeding women to avoid using this medication, and its safety in children has not been established, so it is preferable to avoid use in pediatric patients. This medication may affect test results, so reference should be made during examinations, and in cases of overdose, emergency measures such as inducing vomiting or gastric lavage should be taken. Finally, this medication reduces gastric acid secretion, which can promote bacterial growth in the stomach, and long-term use may require ophthalmologic examination for eye health.
