Relief of symptoms such as allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, and chronic urticaria.
This medication is used for seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, chronic idiopathic urticaria, and skin itching.
Adults and children over 6 years of age should be given cetirizine hydrochloride at a dosage of 10 mg orally once daily before bedtime. Patients sensitive to side effects may be given 5 mg twice daily. Dosage may be adjusted according to age and symptoms. For patients with kidney impairment, the dosage and dosing interval should be adjusted based on creatinine clearance; the normal dose is 10 mg once daily, mild cases 10 mg once daily, moderate cases 5 mg once daily.
Children over 6 years of age should be administered cetirizine hydrochloride at a dosage of 10 mg orally once daily before bedtime, similar to adults. For pediatric patients with kidney impairment, the dosage should be adjusted based on the patient's creatinine clearance and weight.
This medication should not be taken by patients with known allergies to certain medications, severely impaired kidney function, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and children under 6 years of age. Additionally, it is important to avoid taking this medication alongside certain other medications, especially theophylline and ritonavir, with caution. During treatment, breastfeeding should be halted, and it is advisable not to drink alcohol. Patients with decreased kidney or liver function, the elderly, those with epilepsy, and those with urination issues should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. In case of overdose, various symptoms such as confusion, dizziness, drowsiness, and rapid heartbeat may occur, and immediate medical consultation is required since there are no specific antidotes and symptomatic treatment should be initiated. This medication may cause side effects including drowsiness, headache, indigestion, and skin rash, so if any abnormal symptoms occur, the treatment should be stopped and a professional consulted. It is advisable to pause this medication prior to allergy testing, and caution is needed when driving or operating machinery. Taking this medication with food does not change the amount absorbed but may slightly delay the absorption rate. Finally, this medication should be stored out of the reach of children and kept in its original container to maintain its quality and safety.
Urticaria, severe swelling (edema), angioedema, hypersensitivity shock, severe rash accompanied by high fever, blisters, skin peeling, oral/ocular mucosal pain, difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory abnormalities accompanied by cough and fever, yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), extreme drowsiness, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, confusion of consciousness, visual disturbances, paralysis, significantly reduced urine output, severe systemic reactions.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to protect it from air and moisture, and the storage temperature should be maintained between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature. Maintaining the appropriate temperature and sealed condition will preserve the medication's effectiveness and prevent deterioration.
