This medication is used in adult patients with acute coronary syndrome who require simultaneous administration of clopidogrel and aspirin. It is particularly effective in patients with unstable angina or non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction who have undergone medical treatment or coronary interventions (including stenting) and coronary artery bypass surgery, improving symptoms such as cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, and stroke. Additionally, in patients with atrial fibrillation who have one or more vascular risk factors and in whom vitamin K antagonists are inappropriate and the bleeding risk is low, it reduces the risk of atherothrombosis and thromboembolism, including stroke. In summary, this drug is effectively used to prevent cardiovascular events associated with coronary artery disease and reduce stroke risk.

Precautions

This medication prevents blood clotting and thrombus formation. However, taking this medication may prolong the time it takes for bleeding to stop. If bleeding does not stop or if the bleeding site appears unusual, contact a doctor immediately. Always inform your healthcare provider that you are taking this medication before any surgery or starting a new medication. In cases where the function of enzymes involved in drug metabolism is genetically impaired, the effectiveness of this medication may be diminished, resulting in more frequent cardiovascular issues. Furthermore, co-administration with certain medications may increase the concentration of the active ingredient in this medication, raising the risk of bleeding, so concurrent use should be avoided. Patients who consume large amounts of alcohol daily may have an increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding while taking this medication, so they must consult a doctor or pharmacist. This medication should not be given to patients with bleeding tendencies or blood disorders, a history of gastrointestinal bleeding, severe liver or kidney dysfunction, and women in late pregnancy or lactation. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or at high risk of bleeding should use this medication with caution, and if any symptoms of bleeding occur, they should notify their healthcare provider immediately. This medication inhibits platelet function and increases the risk of bleeding; patients scheduled for surgery should discontinue use 5-7 days prior and resume only after hemostasis has been achieved. Caution should be exercised with the concurrent use of this medication and other anticoagulants, thrombolytics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, certain antidepressants, as the risk of bleeding may be heightened. This medication is not recommended for children or adolescents under 18 years of age, and elderly patients may experience more frequent adverse reactions, thus their conditions should be closely monitored. In case of overdose, the risk of bleeding may significantly increase, and as there is no specific antidote, treatment such as platelet transfusion may be necessary if bleeding is severe. During use, if bleeding symptoms, allergic reactions, gastrointestinal discomfort, or skin rashes occur, consult a doctor immediately.
