Thiacetazone is primarily used for supplementation needed during intense physical labor and is helpful in the treatment of subacute necrotizing encephalomyelitis, such as Leigh syndrome. It is also used for the treatment of hearing loss caused by drug toxicity from medications like streptomycin or kanamycin, or occupational noise exposure. However, if no effect is observed after about one month of administration, continued use is not recommended. This medication is used as a treatment to assist in alleviating central nervous system disorders and hearing loss.
