This medication is used for patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled with monotherapy of amlodipine or valsartan.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage of this medication is one tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). Available dosages are 5/80mg, 5/160mg, and 10/160mg, and the dosage may be adjusted based on the patient's condition.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, so the administration of this medication is not recommended.

Precautions

This drug can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, therefore it should be stopped immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Individuals who are allergic to this drug or similar medications, pregnant or nursing women, and patients with severe kidney or liver dysfunction should not take this medication. Patients with sodium or fluid depletion should stabilize their condition before taking this medication, and should be carefully monitored for the occurrence of hypotension after starting treatment. Patients with hyperkalemia should frequently check potassium levels when taking this medication with potassium supplements or medications that may increase potassium levels. Patients with renal artery stenosis or those who have recently had a kidney transplant should use this medication with caution due to the risk of worsening kidney function. If symptoms of angioedema occur, the medication should be stopped immediately and not be reused. Patients who have heart failure or have had a myocardial infarction should regularly evaluate kidney function while taking this medication and be cautious as pulmonary edema and other side effects may occur. Patients with acute myocardial infarction or aortic stenosis should also be cautious when taking this medication. When taken with ACE inhibitors, aliskiren, and similar drugs, there is an increased risk of hypotension, hyperkalemia, and worsening kidney function, so co-administration should be avoided or closely monitored. Dizziness or fatigue may occur when driving or operating machinery, so caution is needed. In case of overdose, hypotension or cardiac-related side effects may occur, and immediate medical assistance should be sought. This drug is not recommended for pediatric patients under 18 years of age due to insufficient data on safety and efficacy. Elderly patients can take the same doses as the general adult population, but should follow a doctor's guidance. During treatment, regular checks of blood pressure, kidney function, electrolyte levels, etc. are necessary, and immediate consultation with a physician is advised if any abnormalities arise.
