Improvement of chronic arterial occlusion (ulcers, pain, etc.) and prevention of recurrent cerebral infarction
If cilostazol monotherapy is insufficiently effective, combination therapy with cilostazol and ginkgo biloba extract can be considered to improve ischemic symptoms such as ulcers, pain, and coldness resulting from chronic arterial occlusion. Additionally, this combination therapy can also be used to prevent recurrence after the onset of cerebral infarction (except for cardiogenic cerebral embolism). This approach helps to more effectively improve each symptom and reduce the risk of recurrence.
For adults, it is typically taken orally, 1 tablet twice a day.
This drug may increase heart rate and provoke angina symptoms; therefore, careful monitoring for symptoms of angina, such as chest pain, is necessary. It should not be administered to patients with a risk of bleeding or those who have recently had bleeding disorders or surgeries, as well as to patients with bleeding disorders like hemophilia or gastrointestinal bleeding. Patients with congestive heart failure, those who have had hypersensitivity reactions to this drug, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and those with genetic issues such as lactose intolerance should also avoid use. Additionally, various side effects such as skin rash, headache, indigestion, itching, dizziness, nausea, and vomiting may arise, so any abnormal symptoms should be reported. This drug may also cause dizziness, necessitating caution when driving or operating machinery. As it is metabolized in the liver, the blood concentration may change when used in combination with certain other drugs; therefore, consultation with a doctor is essential if other medications are being taken. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should avoid this medication, and breastfeeding should cease if taking it. Safety in children or neonates has not been established, so caution in usage is necessary. Older adults may need dosage adjustment due to reduced physical function. In case of overdose, symptoms such as headache, diarrhea, hypotension, and tachycardia may occur, requiring immediate medical treatment. This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container as it is sensitive to air and moisture.
