This medication is used in patients with acute coronary syndrome who need to take clopidogrel and aspirin simultaneously. It is effective for patients with unstable angina or non-ST elevation myocardial infarction who have undergone drug therapy, coronary intervention, or coronary artery bypass surgery. It particularly helps improve death from atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction, stroke, and ischemic conditions. Additionally, it is used to reduce the risk of stroke and thromboembolism in atrial fibrillation patients with vascular risk factors where vitamin K antagonists are not appropriate. Therefore, this drug is useful for reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases and improving symptoms.

Precautions

This drug is used to prevent blood clotting and thrombus formation. However, taking this medication may result in longer bleeding times than usual, so if there is severe or prolonged bleeding, a doctor should be notified immediately. Prior to surgery or starting a new medication, it is essential to inform healthcare personnel that you are taking this drug. Individuals with a genetic deficiency in certain enzymes may experience diminished effects of this medication, leading to a higher risk of cardiovascular problems, so caution is warranted. Additionally, taking certain medications may increase the risk of bleeding, so combination use is not recommended. People who consume large amounts of alcohol daily may have an increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding while taking this medication, so they should consult a healthcare professional. This medication may cause allergic reactions, so individuals with hypersensitivity or conditions such as asthma or rhinitis should avoid taking it. It should also not be administered to individuals with peptic ulcers or severe liver, kidney, or heart diseases. Pregnant women in late pregnancy and breastfeeding women should not take this medication. This drug increases the risk of bleeding, so patients with a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or bleeding tendencies should use it cautiously. Patients scheduled for surgery should discontinue this medication 5-7 days prior to the procedure and restart after hemostasis is achieved. Caution is necessary when combined with other antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs due to increased bleeding risks. While taking this medication, you should monitor for gastrointestinal symptoms and bleeding and notify healthcare personnel if abnormalities occur. This medication is not recommended for children and adolescents. Overdosing may result in increased bleeding; therefore, the specified dosage and administration must be strictly adhered to. When storing, keep in a sealed container away from children, and it is advisable not to transfer to another container. This medication does not significantly affect driving or operating machinery, but caution is advised considering the risk of bleeding.
