Improvement of Alzheimer's dementia symptoms
This medication is used to alleviate cognitive function decline and related symptoms of Alzheimer's dementia. It helps improve brain function, facilitates memory and thinking, and contributes to enhancing the patient's ability to perform daily activities. It aids in slowing the progression of dementia symptoms and maintaining quality of life.
As Donepezil Hydrochloride, administer 5 mg once daily before bedtime. For 4-6 weeks, a 5 mg dosage should be administered. After evaluating clinical responses during this period, the dose may be increased to 10 mg. When increasing to 10 mg, care should be observed for gastrointestinal adverse reactions. Underweight female patients over 85 years should not exceed 5 mg daily and require careful monitoring.
There is no experience with use in pediatric patients.
This drug contains Donepezil Hydrochloride as its active ingredient and is used to alleviate symptoms of Alzheimer's dementia. Patients with extrapyramidal disorders such as Parkinson’s disease should be careful as this medication may exacerbate their symptoms. This drug contains Yellow No. 5 dye, so individuals allergic to this ingredient should also take caution. When taking this medication, cardiovascular adverse reactions such as syncope, bradycardia, heart block, and myocardial infarction may occur, so if symptoms arise, immediate consultation with a physician is necessary. Additionally, gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and gastrointestinal bleeding may occur, and liver function abnormalities or neurological symptoms have also been reported. This medication may affect driving or machine operation abilities, so caution is needed during the initial dosing or when changing the dosage. It is generally advised that pregnant or nursing women do not use this medication, and if absolutely necessary, they should consult with a healthcare professional. This drug is mainly metabolized in the liver; hence, interactions may occur if taken with certain medications. If taking other drugs, it is vital to inform the doctor or pharmacist. In cases of overdose, serious symptoms like nausea, vomiting, bradycardia, and respiratory depression may occur, necessitating immediate medical attention and detoxification treatment. Finally, this medication should be stored out of reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers for safety.
