This medication is used to more effectively lower blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension who do not achieve sufficient blood pressure control with monotherapy using either amlodipine or valsartan.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage of this medication is one tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (for example, in the morning). Dosage adjustments are made based on available strengths of 5/80mg, 5/160mg, and 10/160mg. Dose adjustments and caution are necessary for kidney issues, liver impairment, and elderly patients.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy of this medication in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established; therefore, its administration is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to any of the ingredients in this medication, pregnant or nursing women, patients with severe kidney or liver disease, and those with a history of specific heart diseases or angioedema should not take this medication. Patients with low body sodium or fluid levels must manage their condition before taking this medication, as low blood pressure symptoms may occur during use, requiring careful monitoring. Patients with high potassium levels or taking potassium-containing medications should frequently check their potassium levels. Patients with weak kidney function or kidney transplant recipients should use this medication cautiously, as it may affect kidney function. Patients with heart failure or those recovering from a myocardial infarction should closely monitor kidney function when taking this medication and manage to prevent excessive drops in blood pressure. Dizziness or fatigue may occur while taking this medication, necessitating caution when driving or operating machinery. This medication may interact with other drugs, particularly potassium supplements, diuretics, NSAIDs, lithium, simvastatin, and CYP3A4 inhibitors, so consultation with healthcare professionals is advised before concurrent use. Overdosage may lead to low blood pressure or heart problems, so it is essential to strictly adhere to the prescribed dosage and seek medical attention immediately if any abnormal symptoms arise. This medication is not recommended for children under 18 years of age, and while the same dosage can be used for elderly individuals, their condition should be monitored closely.
