Improvement of symptoms of Alzheimer's type dementia
This medication is primarily used for the treatment of symptoms of Alzheimer's type dementia. Alzheimer's dementia is characterized by a decline in cognitive function and memory loss, and this medication helps improve cognitive abilities and slow the progression of dementia symptoms. Therefore, it is effective in alleviating symptoms such as memory loss, reduced concentration, and decreased ability to perform daily activities. It plays a critical role in maintaining the quality of life of patients and preventing the worsening of symptoms. For these reasons, it is widely used in the treatment of Alzheimer's type dementia.
As donepezil hydrochloride, administer 5 mg once a day before bedtime. If unusual dreams, nightmares, or sleep disturbances occur, consider morning administration of this medication. The concentration of donepezil reaches a steady state 15 days after administration, so administer the 5 mg dose for 4 to 6 weeks. After evaluating clinical response, it may be increased up to 10 mg. When increasing to 10 mg daily, pay attention to gastrointestinal adverse reactions.
There is no experience of use in children.
This medication contains donepezil hydrochloride as its main ingredient and is used for the treatment of symptoms of Alzheimer's type dementia. This medication should not be used by certain patients. For example, persons who are allergic to this medication or any of its ingredients, pregnant women, or women who may become pregnant, and persons with genetic conditions such as lactose intolerance should not take it. Patients with heart-related diseases should take special care while using this medication, as it may slow heart rate or cause arrhythmias. Patients with peptic ulcers or those taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should also be cautious as this medication may aggravate gastrointestinal issues. Patients with a history of asthma or obstructive pulmonary disease should use this medication cautiously, as symptoms may worsen. Patients with extrapyramidal disorders such as Parkinson's disease should be careful, as this medication may exacerbate symptoms. Various side effects may occur during the use of this medication. For example, cardiac issues, gastrointestinal bleeding, liver function abnormalities, seizures, movement disorders, and shortness of breath have been reported, so if any unusual symptoms appear, consult a doctor immediately. Additionally, this medication may affect the ability to drive or operate machinery, so special caution is required, especially during the early stages of use. When taken with other medications, interactions may occur, so inform your healthcare provider of any other medications you are taking. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised not to use this medication, and if absolutely necessary, they should consult with a healthcare provider before use. Safety in pediatric use has not yet been established, therefore children should not use this medication. In cases of overdose, severe symptoms such as vomiting, bradycardia, and respiratory depression may appear, necessitating immediate emergency treatment, with atropine used as an antidote. Finally, this medication should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be transferred to another container.
Syncope, bradycardia, heart block, QT interval prolongation, myocardial infarction, heart failure, peptic ulcer, perforation of the duodenum, gastrointestinal bleeding, hepatitis, hepatic dysfunction, jaundice, cerebral seizures (epilepsy, convulsions), cerebral hemorrhage, cerebrovascular disorders, extrapyramidal disorders, neuroleptic malignant syndrome, rhabdomyolysis, shortness of breath, acute pancreatitis, acute renal failure, unexplained sudden death, severe allergic reactions (hives, severe swelling, chest tightness.

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent air or moisture ingress. It is best stored at a temperature between 1°C and 30°C (room temperature).
