This medication is used effectively for the treatment of various diseases. Intra-articular injections are used for the short-term treatment of inflammatory diseases associated with joints such as synovitis of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid-like arthritis, acute bursitis, and acute gouty arthritis. Intramuscular injections are widely used in cases where oral administration is difficult for endocrine disorders, rheumatic diseases, collagen diseases, dermatological diseases, allergic diseases, ophthalmic diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, and blood disorders. Additionally, intracutaneous injections are used for skin diseases such as lichen planus, early keloids, and alopecia areata. In this way, it effectively improves inflammation and symptoms of various diseases.
1. Intra-articular, intra-bursal, intra-tendinous Injection For triamcinolone acetonide: administer 2 to 40 mg once, generally at intervals of at least 2 weeks, adjusting accordingly. 2. Intramuscular Injection Adults and children aged 12 years and older: Administer 40 mg intramuscularly deeply into the gluteal muscle as an initial dose, and adjust between 20 and 80 mg intervals every 1 to 2 weeks based on the patient's therapeutic response. 3. This medication contains benzyl alcohol which can cause fatal respiratory problems in premature infants, so it should not be used especially in premature infants. This medication is in suspension form and should not be administered intravenously. Epidural or intrathecal administration is very dangerous and can lead to serious side effects or even death, thus should never be used. It should not be administered to patients who have allergies or have experienced hypersensitivity reactions to this medication or its components. Patients with infections or systemic fungal infections may have exacerbated infections due to immunosuppressive effects and should not be administered. Patients with infectious diseases such as thrombocytopenia, purpura, herpes simplex, shingles, and chickenpox should also not use this medication. Care should be taken as administration into infected joints, bursae, or tendons can worsen infections. Patients with unstable intra-articular conditions should avoid administration as joint symptoms may worsen. Newborns and premature infants should not use this medication due to the benzyl alcohol content. Patients with a history of tuberculosis, herpes simplex keratitis, cataracts, glaucoma, hypertension, electrolyte imbalances, thrombosis, or myocardial infarction must be administered cautiously as symptoms may worsen. Patients recovering from surgery or those with peptic ulcers, schizophrenia, osteoporosis, or diabetes need to be careful as well. During the use of this medication, side effects such as fluid retention, hypertension, edema, myalgia, osteoporosis, gastrointestinal issues, skin changes, neuropsychiatric issues, endocrine problems, ocular issues, and hematological abnormalities may occur; thus, patients should consult healthcare providers immediately upon symptom onset. Particularly, after intra-articular administration, joints may become unstable, so care should be taken not to excessively move the affected area after administration. This medication can promote viral proliferation in hepatitis B virus carriers, so liver function and viral status should be monitored regularly. Long-term use may lead to adrenal insufficiency, so sudden discontinuation should be avoided, and dosage should be gradually reduced. This medication suppresses the immune system, so be cautious against exposure to chickenpox or measles, and check vaccination status. It has many drug interactions, so dosage adjustment or caution is needed depending on concomitant medications. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should use it only when necessary, considering the effects on the fetus and newborn, and breastfeeding should be discontinued. Children are at risk for side effects such as growth retardation, so should be administered at the minimum effective dose and intracranial pressure symptoms should be monitored during long-term use. Elderly patients have a higher risk of adverse reactions, so careful monitoring is especially required during administration. Administration via intravenous injection, intrathecal, epidural, or spinal injection is prohibited; and during intramuscular injection, the injection site should be carefully selected to avoid nerve damage.
