Summary

Main use
Treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers and gastritis (such as gastroesophageal reflux disease and NSAID-induced ulcers)
Who takes it
Adults
Adult dose
Generally, 2 tablets orally twice a day, morning and before bedtime, regardless of food intake. 1) Gastric and duodenal ulcers Administer 2 tablets twice a day or 4 tablets once at bedtime. Especially for patients with duodenal ulcers, taking 4 tablets twice a day, morning and before bedtime, can achieve higher treatment rates. It is also utilized in combination therapy to prevent gastric and duodenal ulcers due to the administration of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or long-term use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs; the dosage remains the same. Typically, conditions caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs heal within 8 weeks, although healing times may occasionally be extended depending on the patient. For patients with recurrent ulcers who showed excellent results with short-term therapy, 2 tablets are administered once at bedtime for maintenance therapy. 2) Gastroesophageal reflux disease Administer 2 tablets twice a day for 8 weeks or 4 tablets once at bedtime. However, in severe cases, the dose can be increased to 4 tablets four times a day. 3) Zollinger-Ellison syndrome Start treatment with an initial dose of 2 tablets three times a day and titrate as needed. In severe cases, under the supervision of a physician, up to 6 g of ranitidine may be given daily. 4) Peptic ulcers, acute stress ulcers, and upper gastrointestinal bleeding due to acute mucosal lesions Once oral administration is possible, switch from injection to 2 tablets orally twice a day. 5) Pre-anesthesia medication (to prevent Mendelson syndrome) Administer 2 tablets 2 hours prior to anesthesia induction. It is preferable to also administer 2 tablets the night before surgery.
