This medication is administered to patients with acute coronary syndrome, particularly those with unstable angina or non-ST elevation myocardial infarction. It is used to improve atherosclerotic symptoms caused by cardiovascular events such as death, myocardial infarction, and stroke in patients who have undergone or will undergo medical treatment, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), stenting, or coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Moreover, it helps reduce the risk of stroke and thromboembolism in patients with atrial fibrillation who cannot use vitamin K antagonists (VKAs), have a low risk of bleeding, and possess one or more vascular risk factors. Therefore, this drug plays a crucial role in reducing the risk of cardiovascular complications and is used to improve patients' cardiovascular health.

Precautions

This medication may prolong blood coagulation time, which could take longer than usual for bleeding to stop. If severe bleeding or an unusual bleeding site occurs, you must inform your doctor immediately. Before undergoing surgery or starting new medications, you must inform your healthcare provider that you are taking this drug. Patients who cannot metabolize the active ingredient of this medication properly due to genetic factors may experience reduced efficacy and may experience cardiovascular problems more frequently. Moreover, concomitant use with drugs that activate certain enzymes may increase the risk of bleeding, so such combinations should be avoided. Patients who regularly consume excessive alcohol should consult with a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication or any other pain relievers. As there is a risk of gastrointestinal bleeding, patients with a history of gastrointestinal bleeding, coagulation disorders, or severe liver or kidney dysfunction should not use this medication. Pregnant women in the later stages or breastfeeding women should also avoid taking this drug. This medication increases the risk of bleeding, so caution should be exercised in patients with bleeding tendencies or blood disorders, and use should be discontinued for a certain period before surgery. Concomitant use with other anticoagulants or antiplatelet agents may increase the risk of bleeding, so it is important to consult with healthcare providers. This medication may cause various side effects such as gastrointestinal disturbances, skin rashes, and blood cell reductions, so if any abnormal symptoms arise, you must inform healthcare personnel immediately. It is not recommended for children or adolescents, as safety has not been established. While taking this medication does not affect driving or operating machinery, one must always remain cautious about the risk of bleeding and other side effects. In case of overdose, the risk of bleeding can increase significantly; therefore, it is crucial to adhere to the prescribed dosage, and seek medical attention promptly if any side effects occur. This medication should be stored at room temperature and kept out of the reach of children.
