This medication contains sitagliptin and metformin, which help control blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. It is very effective when used along with diet and exercise to aid in blood sugar management. In other words, this medication is used effectively to improve blood sugar levels in diabetes treatment.
This medication is generally taken with meals twice daily, with the dosage gradually increased to reduce gastrointestinal side effects caused by metformin. 1. Patients not currently receiving metformin: The initial dose is this medication 50/500 mg, taken twice daily, 1 tablet at a time, and can be increased to 50/1000 mg, taken twice daily, 1 tablet at a time. 2. Patients receiving metformin:
This medication contains sitagliptin and metformin and is primarily used for blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes. Serious allergic reactions may occur while taking this medication, and if symptoms such as rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or throat appear, you must stop taking the medication immediately and consult a doctor. Additionally, this medication may cause serious side effects such as acute pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas, so if symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, or severe abdominal discomfort occur, you should visit a medical institution immediately. The metformin component can rarely cause lactic acidosis, a life-threatening metabolic disorder, so if symptoms such as shortness of breath, muscle pain, fatigue, abdominal pain, or unusual consciousness disturbances occur, you should stop taking the medication immediately and seek emergency treatment. This medication should not be administered to patients with moderate to severe renal impairment, serious infections, dehydration, or heart failure. Also, it should be temporarily stopped before and after surgery or before and after tests using iodinated contrast agents. It is recommended not to use this medication in pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, nursing mothers, or children under 18 years of age. While taking this medication, the blood sugar-lowering effect may become stronger, leading to hypoglycemic symptoms. Therefore, it is important to avoid skipping meals, maintain regular meals, refrain from excessive exercise, and be particularly careful when used in combination with other antihyperglycemic agents. During the course of treatment, regular kidney function and blood tests are required, and since vitamin B12 deficiency may occur, vitamin supplementation may be needed if necessary. Alcohol consumption can increase the risk of lactic acidosis; therefore, it is important to avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medication. Finally, patients taking this medication should fully understand the potential benefits and risks of the medication and must ensure regular blood sugar tests and thorough management of their health condition.
Hives, severe swelling (angioedema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor (severe allergic reaction), high fever with severe rash, blisters, skin peeling, oral/ocular mucosal pain (severe skin adverse reactions), difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, cough and fever accompanied respiratory anomalies, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), profound lethargy (liver abnormalities), sudden and very severe headache, lightning-like sensations.
