This medication is used for patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with single therapy of amlodipine or losartan. Furthermore, it is applicable for initial treatment in stage 2 hypertension patients who require combination therapy to reach their target blood pressure. This medicine effectively lowers blood pressure to assist in hypertension management.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

The recommended dose of this medication is 1 tablet once daily, to be taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). Typically, this medication is administered at a dose of 5/50 mg once daily, and if blood pressure is still insufficiently controlled after 2 weeks, the dosage may be increased to 10/50 mg once daily.

Children's dosage

The safety and efficacy for pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, and administration of this medication is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious injury or death to the fetus when taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It may also pose risks to the fetus in early pregnancy; therefore, women of childbearing potential should consult prior to administration. Patients with low blood volume or those taking diuretics may experience a sudden drop in blood pressure when initially using this medication, and caution is advised. Patients with hypersensitivity to the components of this medication, pregnant or breastfeeding women, those with severe liver dysfunction, severe aortic stenosis, or in a state of shock must not take this medication. Patients with reduced blood volume, renal impairment, or hyperkalemia must use this medication with caution, and regular testing may be necessary. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur while using this medication, so it is advisable to avoid dangerous machinery operation or driving. This medication lowers blood pressure; therefore, if taken with other antihypertensive medications, the effects may be enhanced, and should be taken according to a doctor's instructions. Grapefruit juice may excessively increase the effects of this medication, so it is advisable not to consume it together. During pregnancy or breastfeeding, this medication should not be taken due to risks to the fetus and newborn, and it should be avoided while breastfeeding as well. In case of overdose, severe hypotension and arrhythmias may occur, and if suspected, medical attention should be sought immediately. It is not recommended for children or adolescents under 18 years of age due to lack of established safety and efficacy. Elderly patients, especially those over 75 years old, should consult a specialist for appropriate dosing adjustments. Patients with impaired liver or kidney function may need to adjust the dosage or avoid administration, and should consult healthcare professionals. Store this medication safely out of reach of children and avoid transferring it to other containers.
