Local treatment effect for plaque psoriasis
Plaque psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by red, scaly rashes on the skin. Local treatment involves applying medication directly to the affected area to reduce inflammation and improve skin symptoms. Commonly, steroids or vitamin D derivative ointments are used to decrease itching and thickening of the skin. Additionally, using moisturizers and keratolytics can enhance treatment efficacy. This treatment method is used to effectively alleviate symptoms of plaque psoriasis and restore skin health.
Apply an appropriate amount to the affected area once a day. The recommended treatment duration is 4 weeks, after which treatment may be restarted under medical supervision. The maximum dosage is 15 g per day and should not exceed 100 g per week. The total body surface area treated must not exceed 30%.
This medication should not be used on certain patients or areas. For example, it should not be administered to individuals allergic to this medication or its ingredients, patients with calcium metabolism disorders, certain types of psoriasis patients, those with severe kidney or liver disease, or children and infants. Furthermore, it should not be used on the face, around the eyes, on open wounds or mucosal areas, or in the presence of skin infections caused by bacteria, fungi, viruses, or animals. Caution is advised for pregnant or nursing women, the elderly, or patients with liver dysfunction or diabetes. While using this medication, various skin side effects such as skin infections, irritation, rashes, or itching may occur, so treatment should be stopped immediately and a healthcare professional consulted if symptoms arise. Long-term use can lead to skin thinning, pigment changes, and acne-like side effects, so care should be taken. Additionally, since this medication contains corticosteroids, excessive use may result in systemic side effects; therefore, the prescribed dosage and frequency must be strictly followed. During pregnancy, it is advised to use it on as few areas as necessary and for the shortest duration possible, as it may affect the fetus. It is also best not to apply this medication to the breast area during lactation. Care should be taken to avoid contact with the eyes; if it comes into contact with the eyes, rinse immediately with clean water. Moreover, when using this medication, care must be taken to avoid direct contact with the skin, and hands should be washed thoroughly after usage. Treatment areas should not be too large or used for extended periods; particularly, methods like occlusive dressings should not be performed without a doctor's supervision. Use in children or adolescents is not recommended, and it should be stored out of reach of children, used within 12 months of opening.
