Prevention and treatment of folic acid deficiency and anemia (nutritional deficiency, pregnancy-related)
This medication is used for the prevention and treatment of various anemias caused by folic acid deficiency. It is particularly beneficial for individuals who are unable to consume enough through diet, including pregnant or breastfeeding women, and those suffering from wasting diseases. Additionally, it is effective for various anemia symptoms related to folic acid deficiency or metabolic disorders, such as nutritional deficiency anemia, pregnancy-related anemia, and pediatric anemia. It also helps with anemias associated with anticonvulsant therapy or related to alcoholism and liver disease, where megaloblastic anemia is suspected. This medication is used to improve anemia symptoms caused by various factors.
(Tablets) 0.25 to 1 mg of folic acid daily for treatment of folic acid deficiency caused by other medication. For prevention of folic acid deficiency and for various diseases that increase the demand for folic acid, take 0.1 to 0.25 mg daily. (Capsules) 1 mg of folic acid daily for treatment of folic acid deficiency caused by other medication.
(Tablets) Children aged 24 months and older: 0.25 to 1 mg of folic acid daily for treatment of folic acid deficiency caused by other medication. Prevention of folic acid deficiency and for various diseases that increase the demand for folic acid.
This medication should not be taken by anyone allergic to this medication or any of its components. In addition, patients with pernicious anemia or megaloblastic anemia caused by vitamin B12 deficiency should not take this medication. This medication contains lactose, thus those with hereditary galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take it. Patients under medical treatment, those with pernicious anemia, and those taking specific medications should consult with a doctor, dentist, or pharmacist before taking this medication. In particular, for patients with pernicious anemia, this medication alone is not effective in improving neurological symptoms and should be used in conjunction with vitamin B12 preparations. Those taking medications such as aminosalicylic acid, oral contraceptives, methotrexate, or trimethoprim should be cautious as interactions may occur with this medication. For those taking anticonvulsants like phenytoin, this medication may lower blood levels of phenytoin, increasing the risk of seizure frequency. Individuals taking sulfasalazine or cholestyramine should be aware that absorption of this medication may be hindered. If allergic reactions such as erythema, skin rash, itching, or respiratory distress occur during the use of this medication, it must be stopped immediately, and consultation with an expert is necessary. Additionally, if symptoms such as loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, swelling, or weight loss appear, the medication should be discontinued and consultation with a doctor is advised. High-dose use may lead to central nervous system side effects such as gastrointestinal disturbances, changes in sleep, decreased concentration, hyperactivity, depression, and confusion, so caution is advised. When taking this medication, strictly follow the prescribed dosage and administration; when administered to children, supervision and guidance from a guardian are required. If symptoms do not improve or worsen after one month of treatment, consult with a doctor or pharmacist immediately. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, away from direct sunlight, and in a cool, dry place, securely sealed. To protect quality, do not transfer to another container and avoid misuse.

This medication may interact with aminosalicylic acid, oral contraceptives, dihydrofolate reductase inhibitors (such as methotrexate, trimethoprim), phenytoin-type anticonvulsants, sulfasalazine, and cholestyramine, so it is necessary to consult with a doctor or pharmacist if you are taking these medications.
This medication may be sensitive to air or moisture, so it must be stored in a sealed container. Additionally, it is advisable to store the medication at room temperature between 1°C and 30°C. Avoid storing it in excessively hot or cold places for safe storage.
