Effectiveness in removing gastric mucus
View approved original textHide original text
If gastric mucus is present during an endoscopic examination, it can obstruct visibility and affect the examination results. Therefore, removing gastric mucus is important to facilitate the examination and aid in accurate diagnosis. To achieve this, a mucus removal agent is used to wash away or dilute the gastric mucus, securing visibility. This allows for better observation of any abnormalities in the gastric wall, thereby enhancing diagnostic reliability. The removal of gastric mucus is essential for the successful execution and accurate assessment of endoscopic examinations.

Precautions
This medication should not be used in patients with gastric bleeding as it may exacerbate bleeding. Patients who have experienced allergic reactions to this medication or its components should not take it. This medication contains lactose, so patients with genetic disorders that prevent lactose breakdown should avoid it. Caution should be exercised when using this medication in patients suspected of having gastric bleeding, as there is a risk of bleeding from the wound site. Patients with bleeding disorders such as hemophilia, where blood does not clot well, should also use this medication with caution. Patients with severe liver or kidney damage may have an increased risk of bleeding, thus administration should be cautious. Patients with a history of drug allergies should also be careful when using this medication. Patients on anticoagulants should monitor their condition closely, as this medication may enhance the effects of anticoagulants during use. Elderly patients may have reduced bodily functions, so it is important to consider lowering the dosage among precautions. If severe allergic reactions such as breathing difficulties, generalized redness, or swelling occur while using this medication, it is imperative to stop administration immediately and seek medical assistance. Allergic symptoms such as itching, rash, or skin redness may also occur. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as gastric bleeding, abdominal pain, diarrhea, heartburn, decreased appetite, nausea, or vomiting may arise, warranting attention. There may be tendencies for bleeding such as nosebleeds or blood in sputum, so if these symptoms occur, consultation with a healthcare provider is advised. It is recommended to fast for more than 6 hours before an endoscopic examination and to take any required sedatives or antispasmodics before administering this medication. This medication is more effective when taken together with the defoaming agent simethicone. For administration, it is preferable to dissolve this medication in water and drink it immediately. After taking this medication, changing positions while lying down can assist in enhancing its effectiveness. This medication can easily disperse in powder form, so when handling larger quantities, protective actions such as wearing a mask should be taken to avoid hypersensitivity responses such as sneezing or runny nose. It should be stored out of reach of children, and it is crucial to store it in its original container and ensure the lid is tightly closed. Transferring it to another container may lead to misuse or degradation of the medication's quality, so caution is advised.
