Additionally, it should not be given to those who have had allergic reactions to this drug or its components, a history of acute porphyria, patients who have undergone upper gastrointestinal surgery, pregnant women, women who may become pregnant, premature infants and neonates, and patients on potassium-restricted diets. Patients with compromised liver function, a history of drug allergies, the elderly, those with a past history of renal dysfunction, and those taking NSAIDs should use this medication cautiously. Especially, it can mask symptoms of gastric cancer; therefore, gastric ulcer patients or middle-aged individuals with newly appeared dyspeptic symptoms should verify that there is no malignancy before administration. Patients with Helicobacter pylori positive gastric and duodenal ulcers should receive an eradication treatment in conjunction, and precautions are needed when used in severely ill ICU patients or patients with hypophosphatemia. During the course of taking this medication, rare allergic reactions, blood abnormalities, liver dysfunction, cardiac arrhythmias, gastrointestinal symptoms, nervous system abnormalities, musculoskeletal pain, and skin rashes may occur, thus immediate consultation with medical staff is necessary if symptoms arise. It is important to avoid long-term use and closely monitor treatment progress while using the minimal effective dosage. Elderly patients, those with chronic lung diseases, diabetes, and immunocompromised patients should be cautious, as there is an increased risk of pneumonia while taking this medication. If dizziness or drowsiness occurs while taking this medication, avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. Furthermore, this medication may affect the absorption or metabolism of other drugs; therefore, dosage adjustments or discontinuation of concomitant medications may be necessary, so inform your healthcare provider of all drugs you are taking. It is advisable for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding to avoid using this medication, as safety in children has not been established and is not recommended.
