Precautions

This medication may cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients with allergies to the components in this drug or similar class medications, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, patients with severe liver or kidney diseases, severe aortic stenosis, bile duct obstruction, kidney dialysis patients, patients in shock, certain diabetic patients, and those with kidney dysfunction should not take this medication. Patients with low blood pressure due to lack of fluids or salts should be cautious as they may experience symptoms of low blood pressure when taking this drug, and appropriate treatment may be needed if blood pressure drops too low. The vasodilating effects may cause acute hypotension, so especially in patients with severe aortic stenosis, careful administration is necessary. Patients with heart disease, coronary artery disease, or congestive heart failure should be cautious, as symptoms may worsen with this medication. Patients whose kidney function is sensitive to medications should be monitored for changes in kidney function, and those with decreased liver function should also take this drug with caution. Various side effects may occur with this medication. Common symptoms include dizziness, headache, low blood pressure, orthostatic hypotension, palpitations, nausea, vomiting, rash, swelling, and rarely serious side effects have been reported. During pregnancy, the risk of fetal harm is increased, so discontinuation of the medication is essential, and for those breastfeeding, as this medication can be transmitted through breast milk, it is recommended to either discontinue breastfeeding or the medication. Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years have not been established, so use is not recommended. Elderly patients may have increased drug concentrations due to decreased kidney and liver function, so it is essential to start with a low dose and proceed with caution. In cases of overdose, severe hypotension, vasodilation, and tachycardia can occur, so immediate monitoring of cardiac and respiratory status in a medical facility and appropriate treatment are required. This medication may enhance blood pressure-lowering effects when taken with grapefruit juice, hence concurrent use should be avoided. Additionally, when used with other antihypertensive drugs or potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements, blood potassium levels may increase, necessitating regular blood tests. When storing this medication, it is crucial to keep it out of reach of children and avoid moisture, heat, and direct sunlight.
