Osteoporosis in postmenopausal women is a condition that can easily lead to fractures due to decreased bone density. Regular usage is effective in preventing fractures and contributes to improving the quality of life for patients. This medication is used for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.

How to take

Adult dose

Take 1 tablet once a month regularly on the same day each month, at least 1 hour before eating food, drinking (excluding water), or taking other oral medications or dietary supplements (including calcium) with a sufficient amount of water. Swallow it with a sufficient amount (180-240ml) of water while standing or sitting upright; do not lie down for 60 minutes after taking it. Mineral water may decrease absorption of this medication.

Child dose

The efficacy and safety in children under 18 have not been studied.

Precautions

This medication should not be administered to certain patients. For example, individuals who are allergic to this medication or its components, those with low calcium levels, and those who cannot sit or stand upright for more than 60 minutes should avoid taking this medication. Additionally, patients with esophageal function issues that affect the ability to swallow food should not use this medication. It contains lactose and should be avoided by patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders. Use this medication cautiously in patients with significantly impaired kidney function, and ensure calcium levels are normalized and any bone and mineral metabolism disorders are treated before initiating treatment. This medication may irritate the gastrointestinal tract; therefore, patients with upper gastrointestinal diseases such as gastritis, esophagitis, or esophageal ulcers should take it with caution. If difficulty swallowing, pain, chest pain, or heartburn occurs during use, discontinue and consult a physician immediately. Taking this medication with calcium, milk, antacids, etc., may reduce absorption, so it's important not to consume other foods or drugs for at least 1 hour after taking it. While taking this medication, side effects such as muscle pain, joint pain, headache, indigestion, nausea, diarrhea may occur, and in rare cases, osteonecrosis of the jaw or surrounding bones may occur, so consult a physician before any dental treatments. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding are advised not to use this medication, and the safety for children and adolescents under 18 has not been established. In the event of an overdose, gastrointestinal discomfort and hypocalcemia may occur, so caution is advised, and the effects on driving or operating machinery are unknown. Store this medication out of reach of children, and properly dispose of any unused medications to prevent environmental contamination.

Hives, severe swelling (edema), cold sweats, paleness, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in mouth/eye mucosa, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, asthma attacks, respiratory abnormalities accompanied by cough and fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), severe malaise, sudden and very severe headache, lightning headache, seizures, confusion, visual disturbances, paralysis, significantly reduced urine output, systemic.
