This medication is used to treat conditions such as gastric and duodenal ulcers and gastritis, and is effective in alleviating symptoms caused by hyperacidity, such as heartburn, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and regurgitation. It neutralizes gastric acid through its antacid effect, alleviating symptoms and protecting the gastric mucosa to promote rapid recovery. Therefore, this medication is used to improve various discomforts associated with gastrointestinal diseases.

How to take

Adult dose

As Almagate, take 1 g orally 3 times a day, 30 minutes to 1 hour after meals. Another dose may be taken before bedtime if necessary.

Child dose

Children aged 12 and older should follow the same dosage as adults.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals allergic to this medication or its constituents. Patients with Alzheimer's disease, hemorrhoids, fluid retention (swelling), pregnancy-induced hypertension, diarrhea, and unexplained gastrointestinal bleeding should not take this medication. Do not take this medication alongside tetracycline antibiotics, as it may interfere with their absorption. Individuals taking other medications should consult a doctor or pharmacist as this medication may affect the absorption or excretion of other drugs. Particularly, it is advisable to maintain a time interval of 2-3 hours between taking this medication and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, ulcer medications, digitalis preparations, and iron supplements. Patients with impaired kidney function should be cautious, as the components of this medication may accumulate in the kidneys. It is not recommended for patients with severe renal impairment. Individuals who are frail or have low phosphorus intake, or those with malabsorption issues, should be cautious about long-term use of this medication, as its aluminum content may interfere with phosphorus absorption. Elderly patients, those with gastrointestinal bleeding symptoms, and women who are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are breastfeeding should consult a professional before taking this medication. If constipation or diarrhea occurs during use, or if symptoms do not improve after two weeks, discontinue use immediately and consult a professional. Be sure to adhere to the prescribed dosage and administration, and when administering to children, supervision by a guardian is required. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, in its original container, avoiding direct sunlight, and kept in a cool, dry place.
