Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (including erosive esophagitis), eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection (including duodenal ulcer), alleviation of gastrointestinal symptoms related to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and ulcer prevention
This medication is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease and erosive esophagitis, as well as to prevent recurrence in patients with esophagitis. It is also effective for treating duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers associated with Helicobacter pylori. Additionally, it is used for treating and preventing upper gastrointestinal symptoms or gastric ulcers associated with the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and is utilized in the management of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. This medication helps treat and prevent various gastrointestinal diseases.
This medication should be swallowed with liquid, and should not be chewed or crushed. 1) Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. - Maintenance therapy for recurrence prevention after treating esophagitis: 20 mg once daily. - Symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis: 20 mg once daily. - If necessary, 1

This medicine should not be used by patients with specific allergic reactions or a history of allergies to this drug or similar compounds. It may cause allergic reactions when used in conjunction with certain antibiotics; therefore, patients allergic to penicillin or macrolide antibiotics should not take this drug. Drug interactions may occur when taken with certain heart-related medications or antiviral agents, so patients currently taking these medications should not use this drug. Nursing women should not take this medication, and caution is needed for patients with a history of myocardial infarction. This drug can cause various side effects, including headaches, dizziness, indigestion, skin rash, and muscle pain. Although rare, serious adverse reactions such as blood abnormalities, severe allergic reactions, liver function abnormalities, and severe skin reactions may occur, and if any unusual symptoms arise, immediate consultation with medical staff is necessary. Long-term use may require regular testing, and electrolyte abnormalities such as increased fracture risk and hypomagnesemia may occur, making periodic monitoring important. This drug inhibits gastric acid secretion, which could encourage bacterial proliferation in the gastrointestinal tract, slightly increasing the risk of infections such as diarrhea, so caution is advised. There are many interactions with other drugs; if other medications are being taken, it is essential to inform the healthcare provider. This is particularly important when taking anticoagulants, antiepileptics, and antidepressants. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been sufficiently confirmed, so pregnant women should consult with a physician before taking it. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote; immediate medical attention is required. It is also important to keep this medication out of reach of children.
Severe allergic reactions such as urticaria, angioedema, anaphylaxis/shock, severe skin reactions (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, DRESS syndrome), hepatitis with or without jaundice, liver failure, encephalopathy, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, severe edema, severe hypomagnesemia, rhabdomyolysis, severe edema or urinary abnormalities, severe allergic reactions
