This medication helps reduce the risk of various cardiovascular diseases. It lowers the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke in adults with risk factors for coronary heart disease and patients with type 2 diabetes, and also reduces the risk of revascularization and angina. Additionally, it decreases the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, congestive heart failure hospitalization, and angina in patients who already have coronary heart disease. In patients with hyperlipidemia, it lowers total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol and raises HDL cholesterol, thus aiding therapeutic effects. This medication is used as an adjunct to diet in patients with hypercholesterolemia and particularly contributes to the treatment of familial hypercholesterolemia in pediatric patients. Overall, it is used to improve cardiovascular health and effectively manage hyperlipidemia.
