This medication can effectively manage blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension where blood pressure control with amlodipine and valsartan alone is insufficient. In other words, it helps improve hypertension.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose of this medication is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is advisable to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). In cases where blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy of individual components, the following administration is recommended: - 5/80 mg: Administered to patients inadequately controlled on monotherapy with either amlodipine 5 mg or valsartan 80 mg.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy of this medication in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established; therefore, its use is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to a fetus or newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients with known allergic reactions to this medication, severely impaired kidney or liver function, pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take this medication. Patients with low body sodium or fluid levels should stabilize their condition before taking this medication; if symptoms of hypotension occur during treatment, they should lie down and rest immediately and seek medical attention if necessary. Patients with elevated potassium levels should be cautious when taking potassium supplements or potassium-rich substances in conjunction with this medication and should have their serum potassium levels regularly monitored. Patients with renal vascular issues or those who have recently undergone kidney transplants should use this medication cautiously due to the risk of renal function deterioration. This medication may cause a serious side effect known as angioedema; if swelling of the face, lips, or tongue occurs, discontinue use immediately and consult healthcare professionals. Patients with heart failure or myocardial infarction should frequently check their renal function and blood pressure while on this medication, as symptoms such as pulmonary edema may arise. As a hypertension treatment, side effects such as headache, dizziness, edema, fatigue, palpitations, cough, and indigestion may occur while taking this medication. Be cautious of dizziness or fatigue while driving or operating machinery, particularly when first starting treatment or altering the dosage. Drug interactions may occur when taking other antihypertensive medications, potassium supplements, diuretics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), heart medications, etc.; thus, it’s essential to inform the physician and undergo regular checks. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should not use this medication, and it is advisable for breastfeeding women to avoid it as well. Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years have not been adequately established; therefore, its use is not recommended. In case of overdose, there may be hypotension, dizziness, or shock; immediate medical attention should be sought. During treatment with this medication, routine liver and renal function tests should be conducted, and if any abnormal symptoms appear, healthcare professionals should be consulted immediately.
