This medication is used to clean the intestines prior to a colon X-ray examination or colonoscopy, and is also used as a pre-surgical laxative.
How to take
Adult dose
Take 1 bottle (170 mL) of solution before 8 AM on the day before the examination. After 6-8 hours, take an additional 1 bottle (170 mL) of solution.
Child dose
Ages 1-2 years: Take 1/4 bottle (42.5 mL) in the morning and 1/4 bottle (42.5 mL) in the afternoon before the examination. Ages 2-4 years: Take 1/2 bottle (85 mL) in the morning and 1/2 bottle (85 mL) in the afternoon before the examination.
Precautions
This medication should not be used in certain patients. For instance, patients with allergies to this medication or its ingredients, patients with weak heart function, patients with poor gastrointestinal status, and patients with severe bowel obstruction or inflammation should not take this medication. Additionally, patients with severe nausea or vomiting, patients with acute abdominal diseases requiring surgery, and patients in severe dehydration should avoid this medication. This medication is not suitable for patients with very poor kidney function or high magnesium levels, and for patients with ascites. This medication should be used cautiously in some patients; therefore, individuals who have recently undergone gastrointestinal surgery, those with heart or kidney diseases, and those taking specific medications should definitely consult with a physician. Children, the elderly, individuals with poor physical condition, and patients at risk of electrolyte imbalance should carefully manage their hydration and electrolyte status and seek immediate treatment if abnormal symptoms appear. While using this medication, side effects such as headaches, nausea, diarrhea, and rashes may occur, so the patient's condition should be closely monitored. Moreover, long-term use of this medication carries a risk of dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, so it is safe not to use it for more than 24 hours. This medication can affect the absorption of other medications, so individuals taking antiepileptics, contraceptives, diabetes medications, and antibiotics should consult with a specialist. It is recommended to avoid this medication during pregnancy and to consult a physician before using it while breastfeeding. In case of overdose, severe diarrhea may occur, so it is important to drink sufficient fluids and seek necessary treatment. When using, it should be used immediately after opening, and any remaining solution should be discarded, keeping it out of reach of children. Also, care should be taken not to transfer it to another container.
