This medication is used for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

1 tablet (70 mg/2800 IU or 70 mg/5600 IU) should be taken weekly in the morning with a sufficient amount of water at least 30 minutes before consuming food, beverages, or other medications. After taking the medication, do not lie down for at least 30 minutes and until the first consumption of food. This medication should be taken right after waking up, allowing the drug to reach the stomach quickly to reduce the potential for esophageal irritation.

Children's dosage

The safety and efficacy in children and adolescents (under 18 years) have not been established.

Precautions

This medication may irritate the upper gastrointestinal tract mucosa, potentially leading to esophagitis, esophageal ulcer, or other esophageal adverse reactions. If there are any issues with the esophagus or symptoms like dysphagia, dysphagia pain, pain behind the sternum, or heartburn, discontinue the medication immediately and consult a physician. Take this medication with a sufficient amount of water, and do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking it. Lying down or not drinking enough water increases the risk of esophageal adverse reactions. Do not administer to patients with esophageal strictures or achalasia, those who cannot sit or stand for more than 30 minutes, those allergic to any ingredients in this medication, those with hypocalcemia, or those with certain genetic disorders. During treatment, gastrointestinal symptoms like abdominal pain, nausea, indigestion, constipation, diarrhea, acid reflux, esophagitis may occur, along with musculoskeletal pain, headaches, dizziness, or taste disturbances. This medication may hinder absorption when taken with calcium supplements or antacids, so take other medications at least 30 minutes apart. Care should be taken when taken along with aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, as it may increase the risk of gastrointestinal adverse reactions. In pregnancy, it must be administered cautiously considering the risks to the fetus, and caution is also required during breastfeeding. Not for use in children, and elderly patients or those with severely impaired kidney function should consult a doctor before use. In case of overdose, symptoms may include hypocalcemia or gastrointestinal irritation; consult a medical professional immediately, and avoid inducing vomiting. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and should not be transferred to another container for safety.
