How to take

Adult dose

As sildenafil, the recommended dose is 25 to 50 mg taken orally 1 hour prior to sexual activity. Depending on the situation, it may also be taken between 4 hours and 30 minutes before sexual activity. The dosage can be adjusted based on effectiveness and tolerance.

Precautions

This medication can cause blood pressure to drop too low if taken with nitrate compounds or NO donors, so the doctor must verify if the patient is taking such medications. Patients with cardiovascular diseases should carefully check their heart condition before taking this medication, and it is advisable not to use it if there are conditions that may pose a risk to the heart. Since sexual activity itself can burden the heart, patients with cardiovascular diseases should consult their doctor thoroughly before using this medication. This medication can cause blood vessels to dilate, temporarily lowering blood pressure, so patients with underlying cardiovascular conditions should be cautious of the potential for adverse reactions. Specific heart conditions or cases of significantly low or high blood pressure, or patients with pigmentary retinopathy, need caution since the safety and effectiveness of this medication have not been established. If an erection lasts more than 4 hours or is accompanied by pain, immediate medical attention is required, as untreated cases can lead to penile tissue damage and permanent loss of erectile function. Patients with left ventricular outflow obstruction or severely impaired blood pressure control may be sensitive to this medication’s vasodilatory effects. Patients taking certain medications, such as ritonavir, may experience significantly increased concentrations of this medication in the blood, requiring dose adjustments. The artificial sweetener aspartame included in this medication may pose risks to patients with phenylketonuria. Patients allergic to this medication or its components, those on nitrate compounds, individuals with serious cardiovascular diseases or liver/kidney failure, children under the age of 18, and women should not take this medication. It is also not recommended to take this medication in conjunction with other erectile dysfunction treatments. Patients with anatomical penile deformities, bleeding disorders, the elderly, or those with liver/kidney failure should use this medication cautiously, and it is advisable to initiate treatment at a lower dose. During treatment, various adverse reactions such as headaches, flushing, indigestion, dizziness, visual abnormalities, and others may occur, and patients should consult their doctor if symptoms are severe. Due to its blood pressure-lowering effect, caution is advised when combined with alpha blockers or antihypertensive drugs, and care should be taken for visual abnormalities or dizziness during driving or operating machinery. Pregnant women and nursing mothers should not use this medication, and it is not for use in women. Overdosing can worsen symptoms, so recommended dosages should be followed, and the medication should be kept out of reach of children.
