Correction of electrolyte imbalance
Electrolyte solutions are used to balance electrolytes in the body. They help maintain normal bodily functions by replenishing essential electrolytes such as sodium, potassium, and calcium during dehydration or electrolyte imbalance. Therefore, electrolyte solutions are used to improve electrolyte deficiency and recover health.
Use as an additive to electrolyte solutions based on the degree of water and electrolyte deficiency in the body. Dilute and mix uniformly in electrolyte solutions at concentrations of potassium not exceeding 40 mEq/L. The rate of administration should not exceed 20 mEq per hour.
This medication may cause side effects due to glass shards when using glass ampoules, so care must be taken when cutting the ampoule. Extra caution is particularly necessary when administering to children and the elderly. This medication should not be used in patients with allergies to its ingredients or those with impaired kidney function, heart problems, or extensive tissue damage such as acute dehydration or burns. Patients with gastrointestinal disorders or those who have undergone heart surgery, as well as those with hyperkalemia, should also avoid this medication. Patients with decreased kidney function or heart disease, or those with conditions where hyperkalemia can easily occur, should use this medication cautiously. This medication can increase potassium levels, so it is important to manage it with regular blood tests and electrocardiograms. In cases of overdose, serious hyperkalemia may occur; if symptoms appear, use must be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should use this medication cautiously, as its safety has not been established, and the elderly should slow the administration rate and adjust the dose due to potential decline in bodily functions. When using this medication with other drugs, the risk of hyperkalemia may increase, so consultation with a doctor or pharmacist and regular monitoring of serum potassium levels is recommended. It is imperative to always dilute this medication before administration; administering it undiluted can cause heart irregularities, so caution is advised. Also, before use, ensure that the ampoule is clean and that the solution is not cloudy, and any unused medication should be discarded immediately after opening.
