This medication is intended for adolescents aged 12 and older and adults for the topical treatment of moderate to severe scalp psoriasis and plaque psoriasis occurring on areas other than the scalp.

How to use

Adult use

This medication is applied once a day to the affected area. For the scalp, a duration of 4 weeks is recommended, while for areas other than the scalp, a duration of 8 weeks is advised. The daily dosage should not exceed 15 g, and the maximum use in a week should not exceed 100 g for adults. The area of the body surface where calcipotriene is applied should not exceed 30%. For application on the scalp, an amount between 1 g and 4 g per day is sufficient.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients who have had an allergic reaction or hypersensitivity to this medication or its components, patients with calcium metabolism issues, certain types of psoriasis patients, patients with severe kidney or liver disease, children, and patients using it on the face or around the eyes, or those with eczema that has perforated eardrums should not use this treatment. Also, patients with skin infections due to bacteria, fungi, viruses, parasites, wounds, ulcers, burns, certain dermatitis, acne, and genital itching should not use this medication. Women who are pregnant or of childbearing age, lactating mothers, the elderly, and patients with liver dysfunction or diabetes should use this medication with caution. This medication may cause various side effects such as itching, rash, skin irritation, dryness, skin infections, and rarely may lead to elevated calcium levels in the blood or immune hypersensitivity reactions. Particularly with long-term use or use over large areas, systemic side effects can occur, so caution is needed during use. This medication should not be applied to the face, around the eyes, around the mouth, genital skin, and mucous membrane areas, and hands should be thoroughly washed after use. Moreover, it is advised to avoid excessive exposure to natural or artificial light while using this medication and to discontinue use as soon as symptoms improve. It is preferable not to combine this medication with other corticosteroids or salicylic acid, and pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a physician before use. While the safety and efficacy of this medication have been partially confirmed for children and adolescents, it is not recommended for children under 12 years of age. In cases of overdose, significant side effects such as elevated blood calcium levels or adrenal suppression may occur, so the prescribed dosage and amount must be strictly followed. Finally, this medication should be stored out of reach of children and used within six months after opening, stored away from light and not refrigerated.
