Prevention of asthma and relief of allergy rhinitis symptoms
This medication helps prevent the occurrence of asthma and continuously manage symptoms. It is also used to relieve symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis. Therefore, it is effective in improving the respiratory health of patients with asthma and allergic rhinitis.
This medication should be taken once daily, preferably in the evening for asthma patients. For patients with both asthma and allergic rhinitis, the dosage is one tablet once daily, taken in the evening. This medication should be administered 1 hour before a meal or 2 hours after a meal.
Children aged 2 to 5 years should chew 4 mg once daily as montelukast.
This medication is used to treat asthma and allergic rhinitis. While taking this medication, neuropsychiatric symptoms such as agitation, anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, hallucinations, suicidal thoughts or actions may occur, so any changes should be reported to a doctor immediately. This medication contains an artificial sweetener called aspartame, so patients with phenylketonuria should avoid taking it. Do not take this medication if you are allergic to it or any of its components. Side effects such as fatigue, headache, indigestion, cough, or rash may occur, so if symptoms are severe, consult a doctor. This is not a medication for acute asthma attacks; a separate inhaled bronchodilator should always be kept on hand for emergencies. Do not abruptly stop inhaled or oral steroid medications while taking this medication; they should be gradually adjusted under a doctor's guidance. Patients with hypersensitivity to aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should avoid taking those medications while using this drug. Children and elderly patients may use it, but special caution is needed for children as dosages and safety may vary by age. Pregnant or breastfeeding patients should only take it after consulting a doctor and should be cautious as this medication may pass into breast milk. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so treatment should be provided according to symptoms and under a doctor's guidance. Store in a cool, dry place out of reach of children; it is sensitive to light, so it should be taken immediately after opening. If new symptoms or adverse reactions occur while taking this medication, it is important to consult a doctor immediately.
Hives, severe swelling (edema), angioedema, severe allergic reactions, toxic epidermal necrolysis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, severe skin adverse reactions, suicidal thoughts and behaviors (including suicide), confusion, seizures, convulsive seizures, eosinophilia similar to Churg-Strauss syndrome, vasculitis, worsening respiratory symptoms, cardiac complications, neuropathy, liver abnormalities (ALT and AST increase, cholestatic hepatitis, liver failure)
