Treatment of herpes simplex virus infections
This medication is used for herpes simplex virus infections, particularly for initial and recurrent genital herpes and cold sores.
This medication should be applied to the affected area 5 times a day at approximately 4-hour intervals. The treatment should continue for 5 days, and if it has not resolved after 5 days, it can be used for an additional 5 days.
This medication should not be used by certain patients. For example, those allergic to this medication or its ingredients, as well as nursing women and children, should not use this medication. Patients with weakened immune systems, such as those with AIDS or who have received a bone marrow transplant, should use caution when using this medication. Additionally, this medication contains an ingredient called propylene glycol, so those allergic or sensitive to this ingredient should also use it carefully. When using this medication, side effects may occur. If there are ulcers in the genital area, pain or discomfort may occur during use, along with transient burning or mild pain, dermatitis, rash, itching, skin irritation, and redness or dryness and peeling of the skin. Caution should be exercised as the skin may become red, dry, and peel. It is advisable to start treatment as soon as symptoms first appear and to strictly adhere to the prescribed usage, dosage, and duration. It is not recommended to use this medication when there are no symptoms or for preventive purposes. Additionally, this medication should not be diluted or mixed with other medications. Since this medication is for external use only, it should be applied to the skin and care should be taken to avoid contact with mucous membranes such as the eyes, mouth, and vagina. When applying, gloves or rubber gloves should be worn to prevent spreading the medication to other areas or transmitting it to others. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully consider the risks and benefits of using this medication, and it is advisable not to use this medication while nursing. The safety and efficacy of this medication in children have not been sufficiently confirmed, so use in children should be avoided. When storing, keep it sealed to avoid exposure to direct sunlight and humidity, and store it in a cool place out of the reach of children. Storing the medication in a different container after removing it from its original packaging may lead to a decrease in quality or risk of misuse, so it must be kept in its original container.

This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to prevent air and moisture from entering, and the storage temperature should be maintained between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature.
