Precautions

This medicine can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to any components of this medication or to sulfonamide drugs, as well as those with severe liver or kidney impairment, should not take this medication. If there are electrolyte imbalances such as hypokalemia, hyponatremia, or hypercalcemia, symptoms may worsen with the use of this medication, so caution is needed. Since this medication lowers blood pressure, dizziness or symptoms of hypotension may occur, particularly in the first few days of use, so vigilance is necessary. This medication may increase sensitivity of the skin to sunlight, so take care to use sunscreen while taking this, and inform a doctor immediately if any skin lesions occur. Caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery, as dizziness or drowsiness may occur. There may be interactions with other medications, so particularly when combined with lithium preparations, NSAIDs, or potassium-sparing diuretics, follow a doctor's instructions. Patients with reduced kidney function or the elderly should periodically check kidney function and electrolyte status while taking this medication. This medication is not recommended for breastfeeding women, and safety and effectiveness in children have not been sufficiently established. In case of overdose, symptoms may include hypotension, electrolyte abnormalities, and muscle cramps, so immediate medical attention is required.
